ALL Members and APPLICANTS ARE EXPECTED TO KNOW THE INFORMATION CONTAINED IN THIS DOCUMENT

  1. How and when was SG_CMD created? What is the "Philosophy of the Clan?

STARGATE COMMAND Clan was created in late May of 2005 by Marine Hard (aka "MH") and 2 former associates. Prior to this time, for several years, MH was an Executive Offer of an AVP2 clan.

The philosophy of the clan is friendship, fun, camaraderie, respect and mutual responsibility. Skill in gamesmanship, although a desirable objective, is secondary to these values.

2. What type of Member Ranking System does SG_CMD use?

STARGATE COMMAND uses a traditional Military Ranking System. All new members begin as Privates. Promotions are typically given every 4-6 months to deserving members.

  1. What do you have to do to receive a promotion in rank? Who gives the promotions?

There are several ways to move up thru the ranks.

member who does more than just one type of service will receive greater rank recognition:

frequent game playing in a SG_CMD server while also on SG_CMD Teamspeak

providing personal 1 to 1 technical help to a clan member in need

frequent and professional admin duty on a SG_CMD Server

writing posts of interest in the SG_CMD Forums

performing graphic design work to enhance http://sgcavp2.com/website/

sponsoring new clan recruits

regular server attendance on weekend "Game Nights"

and any other consistent service of substantial benefit to the clan.

Promotions can only be given by MARINE HARD

4. Who gives out medals, badges, etc.?

MARINE HARD

5. How are medals, badges, etc. earned?

That depends upon the medal. Please go to

http://www.sgcavp2.com/website/icons.php?type=Medals

for information on our many different medals and for what they are awarded. In general, many activities and accomplishments can qualify you to receive a medal including achievement above and beyond the call of duty. A consistent devotion to the clan will receive very favorable recognition from MARINE HARD.

6. What is the difference between the discussion forums and the web site and how are they related to each other?

The discussion forums are where the Clan Members and Civilians (non-members) write and read messages sent to one another. It is also a place where MH and the Senior Officer Staff can post announcements of importance.

The discussion forums are divided into different sections of interest. Some sections are locked and are only accessible to members (Members Only) or accessible only to Server Admin (Admin Only).

New members typically will not be granted immediate access to locked forums. They will have to earn the trust and respect of our Officers and Game Division Leaders (as well as MH), before they are granted access to Members Only Forums.

14. What Servers are operated by SG_CMD?

SG_CMD runs its own Web Site, Discussion Forums and Gaming Servers.

FULL-TIME, Division Grade Gaming Servers include AVP2, Counter-Strike Source, Ranked Battlefield 2, Ranked BF 2142 and Left 4 Dead. A TeamSpeak Communication Server is always on.

PART-TIME Pre-Division ("Test") servers (available to members upon request) include: BF2 and BF2142 Private Servers, Killing Floor and Doom 3 Last Man Standing COOP.

As time goes on, depending upon the needs of the clan, new games may be introduced and old games may be shut down.

15. What is a Server Commander?

The Server Commander is the owner of the Web Server or Gaming Server. He pays for these servers out of his own pocket and without charge to the members of the clan. The Server Commander has the ultimate authority to decide how the server is operated.

16. Who are the Server Commanders?

MARINE HARD

MH owns and operates our Dedicated Server SG-2:

Our Web Site:

www.sgcavp2.com/website

Our Discussion Forums:

http://stargatecommand16659.yuku.com/directory

17. Who can be a Server Commander (i.e. who can operate a game server)?

ONLY MH and General Artax are permitted to run a game server.

PLEASE NOTE: Any member found running a "Game Server" of any kind will be automatically expelled from the clan.

A TeamSpeak Server is permitted for PERSONAL - NON CLAN USE ONLY.

You are NOT allowed to invite clan members onto any personal TeamSpeak server. Private channels exist on SG_CMD TS for personal communications with fellow clan members.

Any member or recruit found violating the TS rule will be immediately dismissed.

18. What is a Server Admin? What do they do? To who do the Server Admin Report?

Server Admin are trusted members who run, on a day to day basis, clan gaming servers. They enforce server rules (ultimately decided by the Game Division Leaders and The Server Cmdr), kick or ban persistent rule violators, change maps, change permitted game settings, etc.

Server Admin report directly to Game Divisions Leaders.

GDLs report directly to our Executive Officers, General Artax and to MARINE HARD.

19. What happens if there are two or more Server Admin on and they disagree?

The Ranking Admin's wishes prevail. Disputes should be privately brought to the Game Division Leader.

20. What is the difference between a Dedicated and an Undedicated Server?

A Dedicated Server runs ONLY the games the lessee chooses to run. He does not share the server with any other individual or clan. He operates the entire server and, therefore, has Full, Unrestricted Access to the Server Desktop and to the Server operating System. SG-2 is a Dedicated Server.

21. How can SG-2 run so many "satellite servers" at the same time?

Since SG-2 is a Dedicated Server, MH can decide to run more than a dozen "satellite servers". Currently MH runs several servers for AVP2, BF2, BF2142, CS-S, L4D and a TeamSpeak Server.

Part-time private servers for BF2, BF2142, Killing Floor and Doom 3 Last Man Standing Mod.

22. Who, other than MH, has total, unrestricted access to the SG-2 Desktop and all Server files?

General Artax

23. What are the SG_CMD Game Divisions?

Each Supported Game has its own Division which is lead by a Game Division Leader. Current Game Divisions include:

AVP2, BF-2, BF-2142, Counterstrike Source and Left for Dead

24. What is a Game Division Leader? Who are the GDLs? What do GDLs do? Who reports to the GDLs? To whom do the GDLs report?

For a very detailed answer, please click onto MH's Forum Post:

http://stargatecommand16659.yuku.com/topic/421

25. What are the Mod, Map and Tech Support Staff?

Game Modders modify the game being played.

Map Makers create new maps or modify existing maps.

Tech Support provides wide ranging technical assistance to members.

26. To whom do they report?

All Tech Support, Map and Mod Makers work at the pleasure of

1Lt. Amun-RA to whom they report and from whom they take direction.

27. How do I join the support staff(s)?

Please contact Maj. Amun-RA

28. What are "Game Nights"?

Game Nights was the idea of Gen. Artax who felt that we should have at least one night during the week when all players from all Divisions come to play on the same gaming server in order to enhance clan unity, cohesiveness and to combat fragmentation.

Starting 2-27-10, we adhere to the following schedule. All times are Eastern Time Zone.

Fridays

Counter Strike Source: 6 - 8 PM

L4D (1+2):  8-10 PM

Saturdays

AVP2:  5 - 7 PM

Aliens VS Predator: 7PM - throughout the evening.

AVP2: 5 - 8 PM

BF2142: 6-9 PM (until it is phased out)
.

29. Who is "Adjunct to the General of The Clan"? What does he/she do?

Gen. Winey-Baby.

Her official job description is "to assist MARINE HARD in the Collection, Analysis and Dissemination of Oral and Written Information Vital to the Proper Function and Growth of STARGATE COMMAND".

Please send to Winey any and all questions or suggestions you may have. She will, in turn, pass them along to MH.

Winey will have responsibility for reviewing and scoring the "Pre-Membership Guided Link Admission Test" which all applicants must pass before coming into SG_CMD.

30. What is the "Pre-Membership Guided Link Admission Test"?

The Pre-Membership Guided Link Admission Test was authored by SG_CMD GDLs and Assistant GDLs under the supervision of Winey-Baby and MH.

This is the next to last step in the admission process and will be offered ONLY to those recruits who have been active on TeamSpeak, in clan servers and who are rule abiding and compatible with established members.

SG_CMD members are expected to know the rules, structure and philosophy which govern our clan. All applicants are expected to CAREFULLY READ the FAQs and the rules of our clan as contained in this document and as posted on our website and forums.

http://stargatecommand16659.yuku.com/topic/402

31. What happens if I fail the Pre-Membership Guided Link Admission Test?

This is an "open book" test. Appropriate links are provided that will guide you to each answer (except the Game Specific Questions in Section II of the Test).

We provide the open book test so that you will familiarize yourself with our rules, regulations, procedures and protocol. We expect that you take the time to read each document the links provide.

If you do not pass, you will be denied membership.

Note: If you have a reading or learning disability, you will not be discriminated against. A special, completely confidential, tutorial with Winey will be set up for you and you will NOT have to take the Guided Link Test. Rest assured, your disability will NOT be spoken of to anyone other than MH.

32. What is the Affirmation of SG_CMD Rules for New Recruits.

This is the final step in the application process. This is a recorded interview with Adjunct General Winey-Baby for new Recruits conducted after he/she has passed the Pre-Membership Guided Link Admissions Test.

During this session, you will be asked to answer certain questions relating to SG_CMD Rules and Regulations, Policies and/or FAQs.

If you pass the question and answer portion of the interview, you will be asked to affirm that you understand and accept ALL Rules and Regulations and Policies of the Stargate Command Clan.

Should you decline to participate in the Affirmation of SG_CMD Rules, your application will be rejected and you will be denied membership to the clan.

33. How long do I have to be a Recruit?

Your evaluation period varies. In most cases, it's usually between 2 to 4 weeks. However, there are times when Marine Hard and/or an evaluating member will request additional time. It is in everyone's interest that Recruits frequently visit the clan's TeamSpeak and game servers. This facilitates a decision on personal suitability for membership.

34. I'd like to make a contribution of service - I'm not sure what to do. Who do I talk to?

Please talk to MH, Artax, Grr or Winey.

35. Who are the Executive Officers?

          Gen. Grr and Gen. Winey-baby

36. What are the functions of the Executive Officer?

Help MH develop a future vision of SG_CMD and its Divisions

Provide MH with counsel and advice on clan-wide problem

Help MH formulate to clan-wide rules and to amend and delete old clan-wide rules.

Ensure that the policies and rules of SG_CMD are respected by its members.

Reprimand and punish members who knowingly and willfully violate clan rules.

The Executive Officer is to have your FULL RESPECT. You must show them the same respect you show MH.

Winey and Grr are here for you. Please come to them with your complaints and your problems (as you do with MH). They are here to help you.

37. Am I allowed to let my kids use my Clan Name to play Steam games?

Rather than let them use your clan name to play Steam games, we would    appreciate it if your kids could follow this procedure to change to another nickname:

·         Log into Steam

·         Launch the game they wish to play

·         Click Shift+Tab

·         Click on Settings (in the menu at the bottom of the page)

·         Click in the Nickname box, and type the desired name they wish to use

If, for whatever reasons, it is not possible for your children to follow this procedure, and if they will use your clan name in Steam, then you MUST notify XOs Winey and Grr that this is taking place.  Please note you will be held personally responsible for any inappropriate online behavior if your clan name is being used in Steam by family members.
